What We Believe
The worship dance ministry team is made up of those with a passion for and proficiency at interpretive dance and movement. The goal of this ministry is to enhance and display, through movement, the act of worship. Used with music in an interpretive form, dance is a means of expressing praise and worship to God individually and corporately. We also believe that the training of our youth and children in these expressions are worthy endeavors for their spiritual formation.
The Worship Dance Season runs September through mid May. It will start with a Worship Dance Workshop on Saturday, September 16, and include opportunities to lead worship on Sunday morning throughout the year, as well as participation in the Christmas production in December. Practices take place on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:00 p.m. No new dancers will be accepted after the first practice.
Workshop - Saturday September 16, 2017 • Club 56 room • 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
The purpose of the workshop is to inform parents and dancers of what to expect if they become involved with the Worship Dance Ministry, to allow new dancers to try Worship Dance before committing to the ministry, and to learn a short routine. There will be a brief informative talk for parents the first 30 minutes of the Workshop and a demonstration by the dancers the last 10 minutes to show parents what they have learned. A participation form needs to be filled out before the workshop begins, which can be found on the church website at firstcovgr.org. Forms will also be available at the workshop registration table Saturday morning.
Registration begins at 8:40 a.m., Saturday, September 16.
